Ripening & Color Variants

Variants are the quiet multipliers behind huge Garden Horizons payouts. Ripening stages set your base value, color variants stack on top, and mutations scale everything again. Use this page together with the Harvest Calculator and the Mutations Wiki to decide when each crop is really worth selling.

Ripening variants (growth stages)

Every plant in Garden Horizons passes through the same ripening ladder: Unripe → Ripened → Lush. These stages are simple multipliers on top of the plant's base sell value and any mutations you hit. Ripening only advances while you are online.

Unripe

Base state right after a plant completes its grow time – 1× value.

×1
Approx. timing
Instant at maturity (no extra online time)
When to use it
Only sell Unripe when you urgently need Shillings; for most crops it is better to wait at least for Ripened.

Ripened

First big step – 2× value. Requires staying online for roughly 2.4× the base grow time after maturity.

×2
Approx. timing
≈2.4× base grow time (online only)
When to use it
Great everyday target for many crops: double the value for relatively little extra time, especially on faster plants.

Lush

Peak ripeness – 3× value. This multiplier also scales all your mutations, so strong setups explode in value.

×3
Approx. timing
≈7.2× base grow time (online only)
When to use it
Best reserved for your highest-value crops. Lush does not progress offline, so plan long online sessions around it and protect plants with the Favoriting Tool.

Color variants (Silver, Gold, Rainbow)

Color variants roll independently of ripening. They multiply whatever ripening stage you're on, so a Gold Lush plant is far stronger than a Gold Unripe one. You cannot force these – just recognize them quickly and protect them with the Favoriting Tool.

Silver

Rare color glow that multiplies your current ripening stage by 2× (Lush Silver ≈ 6× total variant multiplier).

Color ×2
Lush ≈ ×6

Treat Silver as a lucky bonus: favorite the plant as soon as you spot it and try to ride it all the way to Lush.

Gold

Very rare color variant worth chasing – 5× on top of ripening, so Gold Lush behaves like a 15× variant multiplier.

Color ×5
Lush ≈ ×15

Gold Lush on a good crop with strong mutations is true end‑game; never sell early, and plan full Lush + mutation weather before harvesting.

Rainbow

Mythic‑tier color variant seen in the game data. Exact numbers are still unconfirmed, but it should sit above Gold.

TBA

Until official multipliers are known, treat Rainbow as “your rarest plant”. Protect it and assume it will follow the same stacking rules as other color variants.

How variants combine with mutations

In the game math, ripening and color variants multiply together, then the result multiplies your total mutation sum. A simple way to think about it is:

Final value ≈ Base price × (Ripening × Color) × (1 + mutation sum)

What is the Variants Wiki?

The Variants Wiki explains how ripening stages (Unripe, Ripened, Lush) and rare color variants (Silver, Gold, Rainbow) change your final crop value in Roblox Garden Horizons. Use it together with the Plants Wiki and Mutation Wiki to decide which harvests are worth waiting for and which can be sold early.

FAQ

Do ripening stages progress offline?

No. Ripening (Unripe → Ripened → Lush) only advances while you are online, so plan long online sessions if you want to push valuable crops to Lush.

How do ripening and color variants stack with mutations?

Ripening and color variants multiply together first, then the result scales your total mutation sum. A practical shortcut is:

Final value ≈ Base price × (Ripening × Color) × (1 + mutation sum)

Is a Gold Unripe plant better than a normal Lush plant?

Often yes on pure multiplier (Gold is 5×). But the best returns usually come from stacking both: a Gold Lush plant can behave like ~15× before mutations, so protecting and waiting is usually worth it on high-value crops.

How do I decide whether to wait for Ripened/Lush?

Use the Harvest Calculator to compare sell outcomes with your crop, mutations, and chosen variant stage. Waiting longer is most worth it on higher base-value crops and strong mutation setups, because variants scale everything.

Can I force Silver/Gold/Rainbow color variants?

No. Color variants are luck-based. Your best play is recognizing them quickly, protecting them, and then planning an online window to push them toward Lush.

What tools help protect rare variants?

Use the Favoriting Tool (⭐) so bulk selling skips your best crops, and consider gear that helps you manage long grow-and-wait sessions. See the Gear Wiki and NPCs Wiki for the safest routines.
